6. The Theatre

I admit I am not personally a huge fan of Mr Shakespeare but I am aware that for many the link between Stratford and the bard is the primary reason for the visit. Stratford has Three theatres devoted to his work one of which is undergoing a major refurbishment. How does £112 million sound? The venues are great and you really feel very near to the actors and intimately part of the production, just remember to switch your mobile off. Have a look on our theatre's page for a link to what's on and to book your tickets. Where better to lose yourself in the production than the birthplace of the man himself.
7. Edward Moons

The first restaurant on the top 10 list. If you knew me you would be surprised it has taken this long to talk real food.

I'll start by saying that Moons isn’t the cheapest restaurant in Stratford, Lamplighters 2 mains for £5 anyone - err NO. Nor is it the oldest or the most linked to Shakespeare or anything like that. What I like about it is the atmosphere and the food, most notably the lamb shank. It almost didn’t make it on the list due to them dropping the Grand Marnier desert. That was their real knock out pud but I have forgiven them even that so they must be doing something right.

That said if they drop the shank they drop from the list. Not that I am threatening them or anything. Honest.
9. The One Elm

The second pub in the top 10 and a mighty fine one at that. Don't be put off by the photo I eventually load up this really is a class place to visit. It has a great layout with indoor and out door space including a courtyard with the infamous Elm tree. The food they serve here is top drawer and it is a popular pub to boot. Always busy, great food and a nice atmosphere what more do you want? Free beer? Now there's a thought.

8. Shakespeare's Birthplace

I wasn't going to put anything Shakespeare on the list because to be honest I am not a huge fan and prefer a trashy novel to a work of high art. But to be fair he is the reason most people visit Stratford and out of the Shakespeare houses I do think this one is the best.

The building is well worth visiting and it does give you an insight into what life was like back when Will was a young lad. They had no TV you know. Imagine that!
10. The Thai Boathouse

You can’t really beat the setting here, as the name suggests this restaurant is right on the river and your table can give you a great view over the Avon. The place looks stunning from the outside especially at night all lit up on the river. Inside the experience continues with great food and friendly and prompt service. If you like Thai food you will love it. If you don't you shouldn't really have gone should you?
