The complete guide to Stratford-Upon-Avon
Stratfords only cinema is the Picture house cinema on Windsor Street. Its a cosy affair with two screens and the all important bar.
If the Picture House doesn't have the latest blockbuster your in the market to see Leamingtons Apollo maybe a good second bet. It has six screens and is only about twenty minutes from Stratford. Nice cinema shocking web site but the link below should give you the info you need and you can book online.

Our Top 10 Films of all Time. (in no particular order!)
Well the 10 that I can think of after a bottle of red wine anyway
Below is our list of the Top 10 films ever made. Of course this is a list put together with the guilty knowledge that on another day the list would probably look completely different. If you disagree and want to suggest something for the list then e-mail us. Otherwise just bask in the knowledge that these are the greatest films of all time.
10. Star Wars. (1977 - 6 Oscars)
Yeah I know totally predicatable that this should be in there, but what can I say? This is one of the all time greats and if it wasn't in here the list would be incomplete.
Released in 1977 when the Doctor who and Captain Kirk where still fighting carpets cunningly disguised as aliens this film was a revelation and still looks fresh today. Also has to be up there as one of the greatest film sountracks of all time. Epic.
9. The Matrix. (1999 - 4 Oscars)
Keanu Reeves in good film shocker. Maybe I like this film so much because I wasn't really expecting it to be all that great but I just love the idea. Who hasn't had that thought about reality being a dream? Invented bullet-time which has been miss used in all sorts of films since but it was so cool in the Matrix. It even briefly made those Nokia phones cool. What a shame that the sequels were total pants. Still what a great film!
8. V for Vendetta. (2005 - 0 Oscars)
Ok I think this one will be missing from most people's list and is probably on here because I have watched it recently rather than being an all time great but.....
I liked the message that the government can abuse its power in the name of the protection of the people. It intrigued me and managed to avoid the normal, business as usual, plots most films I watch stick too. It intrigued me and I felt it had great atmosphere and a depth to it. Also any film that finds a role for Stephen Fry is no bad thing in my book.
7. Goodfella's (1990 - 1 Oscar)
A Martin Scorsese master class! This is an all time classic gangster film that follows Henry Hill’s rise in the mob over three decades. The casting is superb with Joe Pesci winning an Oscar for best supporting actor alongside Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro. I love the way you totally believe the world you see created before you and the Liotta’s growing paranoia. Great film & some great music as well - go Clapton.
6. K-Pax (2001 - 0 Oscars)
I think Kevin Sapcey and Jeff Bridges do an amazing job with this film. Spacey plays it so well and is entirely believable in his role as a visitor from K-Pax (or a disturbed patient). Bridges as his physchiatrist who gets obsessed. I think this may leave some people cold or frustrated at the absence of a definite conclusion, but for me it is a really beautiful film that I can watch over and over again, and enjoy and be moved by. I doubt it will make many top 10 lists which is a shame.
5. The Thing (1982 - 0 Oscars)
Great premise for a film. Isolated artic base, no way out, alien killer on the loose, paranoid and terrified personnel on the base. Classic horror with a twist. Rather than the usual human versus horror where all the people band together to fight the evil alien the Thing throws in paranoia as an extra ingredient. The alien kills the person, absorbs them, and then controls them but to everyone else the look and behave the same until you are on your own with them. Oh and the scene when they do the blood test is superb. Great Cast, Great Acting, Great Story. Watch it, you wont be disappointed!
