Situated on the outskirts of Stratford on the Evesham Road, Cafe Chutneys is a very popular restaurant offering an extensive range of Indian cuisine.
Having experienced Chutneys popularity before (it is so popular on Fridays and Saturdays in particular that you will have to book to get a table!!) I arranged a table for four on a Thursday night at 7.30pm. Even on a Thursday by 9pm the restaurant was pretty full.
The uniqueness of Chutneys has something to do with its location out of town meaning that you are unlikely to have to put up with Hen/Stag parties or large amounts of Rugby players drinking pint after pint of lager with their vindaloos. This would probably explain why around 90% of Chutneys regular clientele is local.
Service is brisk & friendly and the food is excellent. For starters why not try the superb Prawn on Puree or the succulent Chicken tikka. For a side order try the Tarka Dahl which is excusite.
For your main event choose from all your favourites; Masallas, Bhunas, Madras: but also look out for the Chicken Razala and Chicken Mango. Nana and rice are not too greasy (a particular pet hate of mine) and portions are generous.
There is a good selection of wines on offer- I would recommend the House White which is competitively priced and really compliments a Chicken or Seafood dish. There is also a good selection of Indian or Europeans beers to wet your tastebuds!
I can't praise this restaurant enough. Great extensive menu, excellent friendly attentive service and above all else very reasonable prices.(On particular nice touch is that the staff make every effort to meet you at the door upon arrival and always make sure that they open the door for you on the way out with a smile!
Chutneys sets the standard for all other Indian restaurants in Stratford to follow-but don't just take my word for it-try it out for yourself!!
