This pub/eatery is located on the corner of the high street opposite BHS.
BHS sell middle of the road, yet some would say; unremarkable wholesome clothes and household goods. The same could be said of the Encore!
We ordered a couple of burgers (from- it has to be said a pretty boring menu) which came with brown salad and chunky chips! (now one always gets excited when chunky chips arrive-but how often is that excitement tainted when 80% of the chips on your plate are undercooked) sadly you can guess what standard our chips were!
A selection of burger toppings provided a short period of hope!
For my sins i plumped for the melted brie and mushroom but one could also have Pepper or salsa toppings too. Wey hey, oh what joy?
Sadly the said order took just over 26 mins to arrive (without an apology I might add) at which point I had moved onto knawing through my 2nd elbow!
Time was Tuesday 31st July at approx 7pm and I counted about 8 people in the pub when we arrived. This had dwindled to around 5 people by half seven (including the resident drunk sat behind us smoking his fake -"I can give up tobacco white cigarette stub" and who was desperately trying to kop off with the cross eyed waitress!)
This pub was I believe flooded in the recent horrific floods of July. One can only wish the flooding had not been more severe at the Encore on this occasion as this would have provided an excellent opportunity to totally re-furbish the establishment. Sadly it survived intact. Lucky for the boss eyed waitress and her colleagues no doubt but not so lucky for us punters I would wager!
My advice- have a sandwich and a packet of those nice kettle crips before you go out; I guarantee it will be more filling, far more exciting and far less expensive!
